This program is now full.  Please register to be put on the waiting list.

Explore the Lab you haven’t seen with friends and colleagues. Get a little exercise. Enjoy the sun. Join LANL Resources Management staff on a two mile loop hike with stunning views of the southern Pajarito Plateau.  Biologists will be on hand to provide interpretation of the juniper woodland and grassland habitats we will pass through.  Learn grass, tree and migratory bird identification, and hear about the laboratory bluebird box monitoring program, fire management program, and trails working group.

The Resources Management Services Team at LANL protects the biological and cultural resources over LANL's fourth square miles, and provides guidance for complying with the National Environmental Policy Act.

This hike will be at a moderate pace with interpretive rest stops and an optional spur hike to a viewpoint.  Bring your lunch, water, and sturdy walking shoes or boots.

Meet at 12:00 at Sullivan field or 12:15 at White Rock training center (gas station parking lot) to catch a LANL bus to the hike.  Parking is limited at the trailhead.  Contact trails@lanl.gov with any questions.

Free, but please register in advance.

NOTE:  The hike leader has the right to refuse participation to anyone he or she feels is not fully prepared for the hike.

Please provide an emergency contact when registering.  The hike is limited to 25 participants.  If the hike says "full" you may be put on the waiting list.  We will let you know if anyone cancels.  If you're signed up and can't make it, please let us know so that someone else can take your place. Thank you!
