Description

Homeschoolers: Join PEEC on a hike to discover the Pajarito Plateau's fiery geologic past and learn some tools of the geologist's trade to help you read the stories of the rocks. This field trip will be held entirely on the trail.

We will meet at the trailhead on Potrillo Drive in White Rock and hike down to Water Canyon. A map to the trailhead is here. Parking is along Potrillo Drive. Those interested in caravaning to the trailhead from Los Alamos may meet at PEEC at 12:30.

This lesson is recommended for ages 8 and up. We will hike just over 2 miles, including some elevation loss and gain. Please keep in mind that younger children may not be able to keep up on the hike.

$8 first child/$5 additional child in the same family. All children attending the program must be registered.

Cancellation Policy: PEEC programs require considerable preparation. Late cancellations by participants hurt the program and its other participants. For that reason, there are no refunds within one week of the start of the program unless otherwise noted. Registrants may credit class fees toward a future class, to be used within one year. If the program is cancelled by PEEC, the registrant receives a full refund.
