Description

Thunderbird RockThunderbird Rock (TR) has the second biggest collection of rock art in the White Rock Canyon. It sits above the Rio Grande between the Red and Blue Dot trails. Paul Arendt will lead this hike, to discover the wonders of this rock art collection.

The group will take the Red Dot trial to the site. Along the way to TR, the group will go slightly off trail to view other nearby sites. The total hiking distance will be between 4 and 5 miles, depending on the interest level and energy of the group to view other off trail sites. Fitness level required is advanced-intermediate, as the trail is steep and has sections of loose rock. Participants are advised to wear leather hiking boots, as the group will have to traverse though stands of prickly pear cactus. Meet at the Red Dot trailhead at 9:00 a.m. No dogs please.

Though this hike is free, it is limited to 20 participants, so advance registration is highly recommended!
